Huawei x PoP Shanghai Portrait Event

Huawei partnered with Pursuit of Portraits (PoP), a global photography community, for a creative content production campaign in Shanghai, China. Founded in New York in 2015, PoP has become an international movement known for organizing photo walks, workshops, and collaborative meetups that unite photographers, models, and visual creators.

This China-based project brought together top local portrait photographers and well-known international influencers to create dynamic visual stories across iconic Shanghai landmarks. The production featured creative portrait photography sessions at The Bund’s historic riverside architecture, the classical design of Yuyuan Garden, and the futuristic skyline of Lujiazui, home to the Shanghai Tower, Oriental Pearl Tower, and Jin Mao Tower.

Alchemist Films was selected by a UK agency to provide end-to-end local production services in China. As the on-the-ground fixer and production partner, we assembled a bilingual Shanghai crew to support the visiting creative director and international team. Our work included pre-production planning, securing film permits, hiring experienced local crew, managing gear logistics, setting up interviews, and ensuring efficient location coordination throughout filming.

The final campaign delivered high-impact portrait content and behind-the-scenes video footage for Huawei’s global social media channels—highlighting the success of international collaboration in video production, storytelling, and photography in China.
