Aerial, Drone & FPV Filming Support in China

We coordinate drone, aerial, and FPV filming for international productions across China. Our team assesses feasibility early, works with licensed local operators, and manages city-by-city logistics, filings, scheduling, equipment, and fallback plans. For a broader regulatory overview, see our 2026 guide to drone filming in China.

Why work with Alchemist for aerial and drone filming?

China's airspace is managed through national rules, local enforcement, and location-specific restrictions. A setup that works in one city may not work in another. We assess each location early, coordinate with operators who understand the local environment, and flag permit, weather, access, and cost risks before shoot day.

What our drone coordination includes

We assess whether drone filming is practical for your locations. This includes airspace classification, local no-fly zones, weather patterns, and operator availability. We flag risks early so production plans can adapt before shoot day.

We help prepare the required flight materials and local filing documents with the licensed operator, including CAAC, public-security, property-owner, or location-specific requirements where applicable.

We coordinate with experienced local drone operators who are licensed, registered, or approved for the relevant city and flight type where required.

We source professional DJI equipment including Mavic 3 Pro, Inspire 2 with X7 and X5S cameras, and FPV rigs. This includes lens compatibility checks, backup equipment planning, and technical advice for specific setups.

We provide on-site logistics coordination and contingency planning. If drone filming becomes impractical on the day, we switch to stock footage, ground-based angles, or alternative coverage to keep the production moving.

Common questions about drone filming in China

Can foreign crews operate drones in China?

Foreign crews should not plan to self-operate drones for commercial production without a compliant local setup. In most cases, the safer route is to work through a locally licensed operator and complete the required filings before the shoot.

Can you fly drones anywhere in China?

No. China's airspace is regulated at national and local levels. CAAC sets the framework, but local PSB and location owners enforce restrictions. Some areas are straightforward; others are restricted or require advance coordination. We assess feasibility location by location and advise honestly when drone filming is impractical.

Do you provide licensed drone pilots?

We coordinate with licensed local drone operators who are registered and familiar with local airspace. We do not employ pilots directly — we source and manage operator logistics for your production.

What DJI equipment can you coordinate?

We have coordinated Mavic 3 Pro, Inspire 2 with X7 and X5S cameras, and various lens packages including Laowa and Olympus options. We match equipment to the brief and location, and we handle compatibility checks and backup planning.

How do you handle permits for drone filming?

We assess the permit route for each location, prepare documentation, and coordinate local follow-up. We do not guarantee approvals — final flight decisions rest with CAAC, local authorities, property owners, and the licensed operator.

What if drone filming is not feasible for our location?

We advise early if restrictions, costs, or timelines make drone filming impractical. In those cases, we suggest alternatives: stock footage, ground-based angles, or filming at nearby locations with simpler airspace.

Have you coordinated drone work outside major cities?

Yes. Our aerial coordination experience includes western and southwestern China, as well as regional environments where operator availability, weather, access, and local restrictions require careful planning.
