Local production for Tippett Studio’s Anhui reference shoot.
Alchemist Films coordinated the Anhui reference shoot for Tippett Studio’s Dream of Anhui attraction film for Wanda. Our work covered route and location research, site access, travel and accommodation, and the drone team and equipment arrangements. The reference supported the studio’s digital environments. The finished CG film is by Tippett Studio; the stills shown here combine AI-assisted reconstructions of its frames with selected originals. They are not photographs from the reference shoot.

The finished film
A flight through changing landscapes
Mountain ridges, flowering terraces, rivers and snow give the journey its changing scale and atmosphere. These stills combine AI-assisted reconstructions and original frames from Tippett Studio’s CG attraction film for Wanda; Alchemist’s contribution was location and reference-production support in Anhui.
Places and detail
Villages, temples and the landscape around them
The flight moves between wide views and closer architectural detail. Rooflines, waterside settlements, mountain temples and stone archways give the digital environments a distinct sense of place.
The final passage
Lantern light over the village
A gate reflected in water and lanterns above village rooftops bring the image sequence into dusk. The shift in light changes the pace and palette of the digital landscape.
Preparing the Anhui reference shoot
Tippett’s artists needed specific views and details from Anhui. Alchemist connected that reference brief with location research, mountain access, accommodation and equipment preparation for the travelling team.
A brief built around the artists’ needs
Tippett Studio needed wide photographs, aerial views and close detail from Anhui’s landscapes and architecture. We coordinated local production around that capture brief, researching the sites and preparing access for the visiting reference team. The material was intended to help the studio understand and recreate the environments. The film presented here is Tippett Studio’s finished CG work.
Locating the views the studio needed
The research went beyond choosing a town or mountain. Tippett wanted to understand where particular Huangshan features sat in relation to one another, including Flying Rock and Buxian Bridge. Our route and location research connected those priorities with reaching the sites, coordinating local access and moving the team between them. The requested coverage shaped the time being planned at each location.
Making the mountain stay work
We worked through the Huangshan stay with Tippett’s team, relating accommodation choices to the viewpoints its artists wanted to see. The preparation covered the approach to the summit and time around the reference locations. Alchemist coordinated the accommodation and confirmed the bookings before the crew arrived, while continuing to work through changes to the team’s travel arrangements.
Coordinating the drone package in China
We compared local drone options, and Tippett approved sourcing the setup locally while its visiting team would bring the cameras. Preparation covered the aircraft, a compatible gimbal, spare batteries and a monitoring link. Tippett requested assembly and checks before arrival. Alchemist coordinated the local equipment preparation and drone team for the reference work.
Keeping weather alternatives practical
Weather alternatives had to account for road travel and accommodation already in place. We worked through those constraints with Tippett’s producers and the travelling crew, keeping the discussion tied to reachable locations and existing bookings. We also discussed how to agree field changes with the visiting team across the time difference with the US studio.
Reference that answered a modelling question
After reviewing the incoming Flying Rock material, Tippett’s artists could confirm its flatter profile where earlier photographs had left the form unclear. They were also checking how Buxian Bridge fitted into the surrounding geography. This feedback identified concrete questions about shape and position that the location reference was helping the studio answer.
